I have no first-hand experience with that speaker, but I think it was designed by the great Arthur Janszen. I think it has a built-in power amplifier. If so, then you were probably told that you need a preamp with an output impedance of 200 ohms or less, and you'd probably have to go to your preamp manufacturer to get that info if it's not in the owner's manual. You might try posting your question here: The Planar Speaker Asylum Janszen's son is now in the electrostatic speaker building business. Here's his website: Electrostatic Speakers - JansZen Best of luck to you. Duke

Wowee! Long time! My Pop had a set of these, ca. 1965. I think they cost more than his Pontiac Bonneville! But they were fabulous. He had these, working with a pair of Klipsch- I think- they were in the corners. He also had a pair of AR3 rectangular boxes. The Acoustechs had a power amp in the base of one of the speakers. He had a Marantz pre-amp and a Marantz tuner, with Marantz power amps. They were only 20 or 40W(ea., I think). There may have been an adaptor?- matching trans... to make the speaker P.S. work withy the marantz stuff... I cannot remember. I just r5ecall that they KICKED ASS!(I'm obviously a connoisseur... )My folks moved to Puerto Rico in 1971 and I think he sold 'em locally for $250.00. Thanks for the memories!
