difference between older API 3124 and newer API 3124+

What are the differences between the older API 3124 and newer API 3124+. I have one from about 15 years ago and it has phantom power on the back and the older round switches, and no polarity switch. Any sonic differences between the two?

Not that i know of because i did own a 3124, not + , however i own 500 series 512c now and yes i can tell a difference there, the 500 series sound better to my ears, it has to be the transformers because they have the same parts.

This definitely deserves a bump, if not just for the fact that I'm interested in buying one myself

I apologize, if this has already been explained before ... I did do a few searches and read through many posts - I did not really see this answered.

I'm mostly interested in any sonic differences as well, not the physical distinctions

Also, if anyone owns one and is in a bind financially, you can definitely PM me at your leisure!

I could not tell a difference between the 512 and the 3124+. I know some people really love their lunchboxes, but I ended up buying 2 3124+ instead.

Now that I own a 3124+ prior to owning a 3124 a few years back, i hear a bump in the mid section, almost harsh but in a good way, little bit more snappy I would say. It was always a bitch having no pol switch.

We have an original 3124. Actually, THE original 3124 - Serial #001. Bought it new from Paul Wolff in '87 or '88. It still sounds great, and gets used extensively on every project.
