word clock sync problem

Hi,

Just switched to a RME HDSPe AES 32 card. Its hooked up to a Weiss DS1 mk III, an Aurora 16, and a Grace 904b monitor controller. The whole shebang is synced via an Apogee Big Ben.

Big Ben wc out - RME wc in, now somehow the RME card does not seem to sync properly...in the RME control panel, when the sync source is set to Word it updates and slaves correctly to the Big Ben, but it seems the AES inputs override the Word sync

umm...that was clumsy explained...let me see...when I go from 44.1 to 88.2 on my Bg Ben, the Aurora follows immediately, the control panel in the RME follows immediately...I can see the Word input changes, I can see the AES changes...on every channel except where I have put the Weiss...it stays on 44.1 ( signal chain : RME card AES oputput 1 - Weiss - Grace AES input -RME AES input 1. an all digital signal chain which should get its sync from the clock source on the RME card)

If I change the sample rate in the project I am working on, THEN the AES channel will follow the project samplerate.

This leads me to think that something is taking presedens over the Word sync...even if the card is in slave mode

And isnt it a bit weird that 14 of 16 ( Rme to Aurora ) channels may be in 88.1, while the last 2 operates in 44.1 ?? ( Rme to weiss to grace to RME )

I had a Lynx AES 16 ( which just got ditched due to being fed up with Lynx driver issues ) and it would sync perfectly to the Big Ben..it followed sync just like the external AD...( with the same signal chain as described above )

another thing, the RME card is hooked up to the Big Ben on wc out 3 the little light over channel 3 is not lighting up..neither as terminated or unterminated...( while the wc 1 and wc 2 to the Aurora and the grace respectively are both green ) first I thought it might be the cable...but why would there even be a valid word clock sync source in the RME control panel if the cable was bust ??

and lastly...since sync probably is most important in the AD\DA stage, maybe I shouldn't worry as long as the Ad\DA stage stays in sync ??

sorry for a confusing an rambling post, but any tips and thoughts are welcome

tia

I'm also in trouble with 2 Focusrite ISA828, that just won't sony to WC in 48k, only in 44k. WC is a Lucid GenX6. RME HDSP audiocard as interface tp PC.
I will try better BNC-cables (just ordered) and terminators on every end. I'll see if this helps...
