WSW

Hi,
here the link I found with user manual in czech (you can use google translator, it works).

WSW-dynamikbegrenzer-compressor-limiter-schematic-manual-CZ.zip | Ulož.to

The In/out connectors are easy to setup.

If anyone has some service infos (e.g. the inside pots), let me know.
I'm starting collecting more infos about this comp/limiter.
I'm trying to modify compressor release times with fast values.
Best
Luca

thanks

Ok thats a start! i didnt expect them to be in english but perhaps german, definitely not czech.. In any case u cant google translate Jpegs, so i assume u meant the website. But i think i can work out somethings from the schematics.. though the scan quality makes it difficult to read numbers.. ah well.. thanks again.

I just did a quick and crude translation. The terminology seems sometimes ancient to me and there is a strong taste of mechanical german to czech translation in the text. Sometimes I just give in with doing the translation mechanicaly too, because it doesn't make much sense to me. But hopefully it is better than google.

Will thanslate the rest as soon as I can get to it.

I used to have a pair of these. They are cool....definitely colored. I had a guy gobthrough mine and recap them. They have a boatload of electrolytics in them. at the time I needed things that were more sure things t use. These were hit or miss. They, like sot German limiters, were very finicky regarding input level. 4 unused? Sounds like fun to me.

There is a good write up on Sonicscoop regarding a WSW console, links to a website and other goodies. Worth the trip just for the pictures of some dudes kids helping clean a console.

thanks for that, in reading the articles they mention this czech website that apparently has schematics for all WSW gear.. I assume that is where these scans came from?

Thank you!
Anyway, the WSW comp/limiters are great. I love compressor mode. Limiter is very strong. And it's true: the very first Neve comp/limiters are quite good as these WSW comp/limiter,

I also was wondering in advance if any of you that did a mod to the power supply & input output section of these units could offer some advice.. My units have the original pin type setups on the back ( does anyone know what these type of connectors are called?) but i dont have the connecting cables for them
I thought of doing something similar to what has been done in the youtube video that vintage king posted (xlrs & regular power cable):
WSW Compressor/Limiter | VintageKing.com - YouTube

But it also occurred to me that if i was to find the original connector/cables for these perhaps i could somehow just modify the cable ends instead of the actual unit. dont know if thats a possibility but looking for some pointers on that..
cheers

Ok, so assuming I have the 12pin tuchel connectors & the schematics (in czech) can anyone help me figure out how to actually wire these things up?
I can barely read the schematics from the pdf anyway.. & though i can see that these 12 pin tuchels allow both power for the unit & the passing of audio through I really am a novice at how to actually make that happen.
If anyone has done it & would be so kind as to explain the process perhaps I could attempt it myself.. otherwise I have to send it off to some tech & that's costly & not always the best result..
