BBE 800 series

I been reading a lot about the use of Sonic Maximizers lately [Michael Wagener's use of them on guitars, etc]
I am ready to give it a go again [didn't care for "that sound" 10 years ago - I know, I'm backward LOL]. I am looking at the top BBE SMs [the 800 series] and I see some cosmetic differences but not much else ... am I wrong?

If your going to get one get the 882I.. i use one on a particular guitar rack unit because it likes it and i do too but don't over kill it...I also just use it on the distortion to fatten things up... It also will make distortion punchy....Its a tool and many use it.
