Naked Eye Roswellite

I got a Naked Eye Roswellite from the local shop to demo and so far I really dig it. I've only tried it on electric so far, but it gave me the perfect low mid range cream to complement the 57 on the other side of the speaker (Tele through a Hiwatt, so I appreciated it's taming on the top end) on the front side and the back side was a pretty good sound all by itself. I'll try vocals and acoustic guitar later this weekend. I don't have access to a 121 to compare (and the Roswellite is about the same price) and I've never tried the original naked eye. Doing a search, I found one or two people comparing the different tones but I thought that I would check back to see if enough people were using these by now to compare the different versions of the Naked Eye and the Roswellite sound vs the Royer. Anyone?

Oh, but what's with the stand adapter? Am I missing a piece? All I've got for the stand side is a hole that's too small for the standard mic stand thread and a ball that's (again) threaded for a smaller rod than the usual mic stand. A shock mount would be great for it, anyone found one that fits?

C&T make another simpler shock mount for the NE....but you may also want to check out the Enhanced Audio M600, which is a hard mount, not a shock. Its a much different idea, but I think you'll find it works really well with any microphone for any application. I think The C&T replacement shock mount is better because its not as limiting as the stock swivel mount when it comes to cabinet placement and shootouts.

Comparing the Royer and C&T microphones in the written word is very hard to do....when they are in my room, placed on my source, versus your room and your source. The 121 has more of a modern thing to mid range...a little dipped but smooth and clear and very agile, while the Naked EYE-R has more of a traditional RCA-type character with silky bottom and its more forward in the mid range and did I say....larger bottom. Side by side its a tough call and the NE-R stands RIGHT next to the 121 for the same applications, they are just left and right aesthetically....I would use them both on the same sources depending on the goal.

C&T NE Roswellite IS great on electric,(Strat/Mesa Lonestar), not as great on acoustic. I've had great success with it as a third mike on piano. Earthworks Z30X's matched pair in stereo up front and ribbon in the back. With certain voices, it is magical and transforming,(smoky female). I have not worked with the 121.

Sounds like the shop lost the stand adapter piece - these are common items and just send me an email and we will get one out if you keep it. You can see it in the product photos here on GS if you search a recent thread "best looking mics".

If you buy it new from the dealer, should have also a standard suspension mount too. Let me know by email if the dealer has lost these - but you might just ask them.

That is pretty impressive! It's nice to know those guys care and even search the forums like the rest of us.

And... life time warranties for their products. I just bought a Studio Vocalist and the life time warranty was a big selling point. It should arrive next week and I'll post my findings then.
