my compex is usually on the mix buss, but last night i tracked piano thru it. Just perfect for the rock track we were doing. amazing on the mix-buss.

I would echo this - the DMA-2 is excellent. If you read the SOS review linked to above, virtually all the "reservations" in the review were fixed.

I spoke to the people at ADR when the review came out and they said: "why didn't he contact us - that's easy to fix" and the fixes were implemented in the next production run.

And they were only minor things anyway, as I had reviewed the DMA-2 when it first came out and they implemented my suggestions in the first proper production run.

The DMA-2 is excellent, I have one myself and may get another soon.

The one thing I find about ADR is that they care about the products and want to get it right and the backup is superb.

Thanks for the recommendation! I just wanted to clarify my location, I'm near Detroit, not Chicago.

As stated in another thread, I'm currently working on a re-issue of the ADR F760X-RS. I have a prototype on my bench (finally!) and I'm working out some PCB bugs - quite exciting after all the time spent working on it. My day job is with Vintage King Audio. I accept side work on the ADR F760's (Compex) or F769's (Vocal Stresser) as time allows. I can be contacted via PM on this forum.

There is a guy called Tim Mead at Vintage King Audio in Chicago, he's an excelant Tech, and is very much up on the ADR F760, after you received the Manual, unless you want to carry out the Line-Up Calibration yourself, I can really recommend Tim.

Natalie (My wife) asked if we could possibly go to the South of France for a little bit of Winter Sunshine, we ended up in Iceland.

But some others have a similar problem
I was on a Amazon expedition, the guide warned us to keep close as we could easily get lost.
I did not stay close and I got lost !! ?
A guy came speeding towards me on a Sledge with 8 Huskies pulling up front, I asked .

"Could you possibly know how I could find my way back to Base"

I may well have worked on that one.

Ought to be manuals around somewhere but remember this predates widespread computer use. Company wasn't networked at that time.
Nightmares, tube pen and film doing manuals.

The chap who did the majority of bench work is still around but long out of electronics. I probably did 197x through 1996, lot of doing design.
Used to avoid 760.

Still have the JFET selection computer, not that it is usable. That's what found the devices for most of the units.

601 is on different technology.

I might have a few schematics archived (unofficial) on stuff I did here using CAD. Mostly be specialist or to do with digital. Doubt you will come across broadcast stuff.

S01 is allmost same thing as compex... with all discrette balanced (or unbalanced) in and out stage + S01 dont have expander

F300 is expander to work with S01.. to get that COPMPEX COMBO!!!!

s31 is latter VCA compressor for scamp... they are good ..but not as S01!!!

I love ADR. I had my F-760 compex fully serviced by David Kulka at Studio Electronics. He added input and output transformers and completely serviced it sounds great. I also have an ADR F-769 Vocal Stressor which I love as well. Another very cool piece that it silillar but has its own unique tone is the OC version of the ADR boxes. I have 5 OC units and they blow the ADR stuff away.

Elmus was the german distributor for ADR gear. They labeled every piece they sold with their stickers. Since transformers were optional they probably did it with these cards, too.

The Orange County boxes are the ticket. By the way they are completely different animal then the ADR units.

that what you have is latter revision of Compex... I had bouth

here is some info I made :

COMPEX vs. COMPEX:
Note: Two versions of compex are out there…. With and without transformers….
Also small electronic differences on SUB board but “A”, “B”, “C” boards are same
Transformers used in original compex:
INPUT = Sowter 3276
OUTPUT = Sowter 3497
Older version also have peak limit pre emphasis position on PEAK limit switch!
WARNING!!!
In earlier version of compex boards sitting in rack: “C” – “B” – “A” , and in latter transformerless versions they were: “B” – “A” – “C”. (from top)

earlier version of compex had PSU part on switch front panel PCB.. latter have that on separate small PCB near power transformer!!
