:-) Not really.. I'm just looking for a good analog limiter that can raise my levels 2-3 dB so I don't have to resort that much to digital clipping.

id agree with some of the comments further up that if you are seriously looking into this you should change out those RMEs first and foremost. you may think they can do a good job but get some lavry or equivelant in there and see a big difference. you may not need a further L2 solution.
regarding L2 and already clipped audio. i find that it can take it fine within reason inside the DAW. perhaps the artifacts you are hearing are compounded inadequacies of the RME.

i like RME converters, i have some for recording work for my own stuff but theres not a chance in hell id even start to clip stuff with them as it falls apart quickly. clipping really sorts out the big boys and RME just aint in the same league.

The "clipper"

A Radio engineering buddy told me (hearsay, sorry) clear channel distributes a proprietary limiter to all their stations called "the clipper" which is a limiter that does something between a raw digital clip and a managed fast limit. It might be an rf box in which case I apologize for bringing it up - but it sounds like what what was requested. I'm sort of curious about it - although most of my clients stuff is played on npr stations, not clear channel stations. Has anyone tried it in a recording environment? t

Yeah! LOL

Bringing up a damn old thread...

But I find the ADR F601RS is great analog limiter. Not easy to find though and it´s intended for broadcast use aswell.
My secret weapon.

I seriously gave up waves limiters for New Years. A massive life decision.

why?

Why all the hate.

I don't see auto mechanic's saying, "I won't use that computer program to fix your car, I would rather use my tool belt." Whatever works best. And for mastering it is hard to beat the Waves Linear stuff.
