Has anyone bought the e250? What does it sound like compared to the other Soundelux mics? I need a great vocal mic that works well for most singers. I have the Soundelux U195, a modified AKG Solid Tube, AT 4033SE, AKG 4000B, and I'm looking for something different, that will shine on female vocals. The preamp I'm using for vocals is the Focusrite Red 7 mic preamp/ comp.

I wasnt able to compare it to the 251 at the same time but on a great female singer it was noticably dull compared to a Sony C800G and a Klaus Heyne U87. There was something pleasing in the midrange but it didnt feel open enough for my tastes and i tend to like darker sounds than many folks do. I was using 1073s.

I do not like the Soundelux mics in general, but the C800G is a bright mic, and the Klaus Heyne Brauner edition struck me as being thin and brittle. I actually liked the Brauner version without Klaus' hands on it better. So, I think the mics used in comparison are bright by nature. Klaus likes that extended top end mic stuff.... not my thing.

I think a new mic brand that is seldom talked about on this board are the MicroTech Gefell mics. I have owned and do own plenty of vintage mics, and I have tried lots of new mics. The new Gefell offerings stack up nicely to the Vintage mics. They sound great and the build quality is top notch.

In the past, the Soundelux's I have owned or demoed sounded ok(kind of hyped or boring), but never sounded anything close to vintage mics I use. In my opinion, the Soundelux's also had a very fair build quality. The power supplies were crap.

This being said, it has been a while since I used any Soundelux mics. Perhaps the quality has gone up.
