New Big Ben crapped out in 2 sessions

Man oh man! I waited for over 2 months (on Back Order) to get my Big Ben, set it up started editing didn't even get a chance to record with it to do an A/B and within 4 days of use, it locks up and all the lights start to wiggle and shake. By lock up I don't mean clock wise, I mean the buttons will not function at all..
So I had to ship-er back to Apogee, which cost me $60.00 Cdn.

Well I guess there could be a lemon in even the best of batches.
As long as I get an immediate replacement and not have to wait for them to fix it, I'll still be pretty happy.

It always seems to happen to me.....stinking batches!

Did you get the chance to reset the thing before you shipped it?
Well, I guess you had a bad lemon, as you said..

It has happened with me several times. In fact, I feel like I'm under a spell sometimes.

Never had a problem with mine so far. It's almost one year old.

YOu should always push for an advance replacement on the basis that you are a buisness and in turn you will end up waiting less time and not get the same unit back.

Even Prosonus will do this.

Never happened with BB to me, but faced similar problem with Rosetta due to power fluctuation. They just re- installed software (as serviceman explained to me). Resolved same day.
In general I am satisfied with Apogee support.

Your dealer should have supplied you with an "advance replacement" and it shouldn't have cost you a dime to ship it back to Apogee... that's part of what the dealer is supposed to do. I'm not sure about Apogee's dealer contract... but it's in a bunch of others [and IMNTLBFHO just good business sense].

Sorry to hear about the struggle.

Ya I asked my dealer on Toronto and they said they had no stock, as I had to wait 2 months for this one.

Well I just I hope I get it back and hope that it will make a big differenct as from what I've read about B.B

Was your rosetta doing strange things with the input lights coming on even there was no source plugged in ? Mines been doing that was well, and intermittantly not recording or playing back. ( Scratch that, its doing neither now)
This is my second rosetta unit to do this same behavior. And of course then theres the time involved getting help from the states, replacement turnaround time, lost revenue due to cancellation of sessions, or embarrsement when it dies in a session .
Not to mention having to import pay tax on a replacement unit again ! Anybody in the uk know away around this ?
Anybody else have rosetta problems or is it just my luck ?

Your dealer in Toronto should have sent it back and you should not have had to cover shipping. They owe you $60. Get in credit or something. It wasn't Lie & Persuade, I mean Long & McQuade that you bought it from was it?

Would your dealer in Toronto happen to be L&M? Check out www.proaudiocanada.com You might get much better service then the mutli chain stores....just a thought.
