Feeback on Avalon's 2044 compressor for rap?

Been thinking about getting the Avalon 2044. Before I hear it, what is your opinions?

Been hearing a lot about the distressor and I'm tossed up on the two. But before you tell me how much better the distressor is, tell me about the Avalon and your experiences. Its pros/ cons. Feedback?

Opinions on Avalon 2044:

Pro's-Good looking, in certain cases can thicken up overly strident signals. Liked it on background vocal stacks. Needs some EQ though.

Cons-Too slow,changes the tone in not too useful way(enhances the 250hz-400hz area). Also too expensive for what it does.

Distressor:

Pro's-Very versatile(probably the most versatile compressor out there). Easy to setup.

Great on drums,bass and acoustic guitars.

Cons- I don't like where it enhances vocal(the upper nasal range). Doesn't have much character to it even when you dial it in.

My choice for tracking vocals?

The best compromise:Tubetech CL1B(change the tubes).

Can enhance the vocal and bass in a really nice way, but you can also in manual mode adjust attack and release to make it more versatile for other instruments.
