Apogee ad16x straight to HD system, no Digi interface?

dfegad I am about to get an HD2 system and I have both coverters of the apogee 16x series. I was going to connect directly to the HD system via the apogee HD expansion cards without a 192 or 92 i/o.

Has anyone done this yet? What were your results?

It works fine. The 16x's show up as 192s in the hardware/ i/o set up pages.
I'm using an AD along with a 192

report back when you get it up and running.

Can you route 8 AES from an extra converter into the AD16X. I'm thinking of going the Apogee route with HD3 but my main converter is a Spider and I monitor through a DAC-1. Also have KSP8 lightpipe.

I have one AD16X and four DA16X's all with the X cards. They work great at 44.1K and 48K but are crap at 88.2 and 96K. The software is just not right yet. They are working on it though. I should mention that I have a large PT rig and am using the Magma 64 bit PCI expansion.
If could do it all over again I would get the 192 dig I/O and go AES into the Apogee's.

Good Luck!

If your using analog inserts and want ADC support forget about the X-cards - you'll need a 192 Digital I/O. Otherwise if your doing it all ITB the X cards work OK with no Digi I/O's
