converter shootout,, where ?

I searched , but didn't find .
I want to upgrade my mic pres and converters.

I like the sounds that I am getting now, but I do notice that they seem slightly thinner (esp. drums) than I would like. I have to work very hard to get them as thick as my fav pro recordings. I also recently did some mixes of well recorded (elsewhere) tracks, and I noticed an overall difference in the audio. My pres right now are Demeter , and Mackie (gasp).

As far as converters go, where can I find that 3D Audio shootout, or something similar. I use a MOTU 2408 right now, and I would like to hear how much different/better other units are.

Is this an ok spot to post this Q ??

Best,
Thaddeus Corea.

i dont know where to find that shootout.but i would target a certain set of converters with the options you need then ask questions. i think your biggest problem now is those motu converters. i know because i had the same 2408's
and they are thin and brittle sounding if you ask me. a good upgrade in that price range would be the rme fireface 800. if you can go over 2k it would be apogee
rosetta 800

Be aware that MOTU chose to NOT be involved.

Lots of room for improvement on your gear. How much do you want to spend is going to by key... Converters and preamps could take you past the 20,000 dollar mark.
