U47 M7 or K47 Capsule?

I think early U47's had M7's and later units had the K47's
What's the diff?
Is it a big deal, or are both good?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Technically, the differences are: the K47 uses a mylar diaphragm, the M7 uses a PVC diaphragm. The K47 clamps the diaphragm using a mounting ring and screws, whereas the M7 glues the diaphragm directly to the capsule backplate. This makes the M7 capsule itself slightly smaller than the K47. The K47 also mounts differently because of this difference. A clamped diaphragm does have some slightly different requirements on the backplate machining around the capsule rim when compared to a glued diaphragm, so the air volume behind the diaphragm may be slightly different when all is said and done. Also, the screwed mounting ring and larger backplate diameter (even though the active area is the same) does contribute to some colouration of the sound.

Sound? I have only used the K47, so I can't compare.
