dolby sr mixing tips

hi
am about to embark on my first mix (film score) for a film that will be mixed in dolby sr. it is a for tv only movie.
the mix tech advised me to make the film music as wide (stereo) as possible. i am a bit sceptical as i believe 1st priority should still be how it sounds on relatively standard tv speakers.
if any of you have any experience in this field i would love to hear from you.

best, warner

Buy a regular TV and monitor through this !
Most times, when you have artificial broadness, you run into phase problems, which is a bit of a bigger problem for your sound, cause the mixer will turn the panning towards mono, and often it stays there for the rest of your music :(
Cause they mustn't have negative phase on TV.

When it sounds good on your TV, it will sound good on air. Don't make it too bright and watch the bass, everything under 60 Hz is redundant. Too much Bass causes most of the time too much compression.
When you're in doubt of a certain passage, give them extra tracks with the problematic stuff, like deep Boomimg sounds or strange sounds.

thanks for the response. that's pretty much along the lines of what i was thinking. i have a nice little studer 900 series 12 channel desk with a great built in mono speaker (along the lines of an auratone) which i do alot of checking with. the desk also has a correlation vu!
i was just a bit put off by the what the mix engineer was saying in regard to dolby sr...and how big and wide the mix could be made.
i'm always a bit nervous about turning in stems as i can't always make it to oversee the film mix.
