Thread Starter | Korby Kat 4 or Blue Bottle
I been searching to see if this has been discussed before I posted this. I did not find anything (so far) so i thought I would post this. Well these are some very cool mics. I am sure some of us would like to get into one of these mics (I know I do). So let's see what the users are saying about them. How do they sound? Are you happy with them? And any other info you want to add would be great.

Don't know much about the Blue but I had the Korby for a while and it was really nice. 47 was dark and actaully sounded nice with my voice. Hard rock style ala Cornell 251 was big and seemed brighter. Sounded good on female and male. Used it for acoustic guitar and it really worked nice. C-12 was smaller sounding than the 251 but more beautiful sounding to my ears. I cut a female R&B track with it and the client flipped out. It sounded so creamy and sweet. Less low end than the 251. 67 didn't work for me personally. It was the only head I really didn't like but alot of people like it the best, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Good luck.

They shouldn't even be in the same conversation... the Korby is far better. Although, the Korby did not knock me out completely. I like the Telefunken USA E lam 251E for that kind of money. That mic is unreal! the studio I work at has (2) originals and (3) Tele USAs. The new ones are better than the old ones. The sound the same only clearer and more open. I do not think you can go wrong with the Korby though. Have you checked out the Wunder mic? I hear good things...

I'm leaning towards the Kat4 but I thought it would be cool to see what people thought about both of them. I spoke to Nadine the other day. She is very very nice. Seems like they got some really cool gear. I can't wait to get my hands on one later this year. Anyone have Tracy tweak a mic?

I've known Tracy for years, good guy who does good work. He rebuilt an AKG "the tube" for me and it's great. He's a fellow vintage triumph rider too!
