| Lives for gear | What is the 1 piece of gear you will never get rid of? ever!
For me it would probably be my Neve 33114 that was racked by Brent Averill. I'll also probably never get rid of my 550b's either. I know someone will say "my ears", but that doesn't count since we can never really get rid of those!

MXR Auto Phasor / Auto Flanger set... with a Loft 440 or 450 they're the two sets of units I couldn't imagine ever having to work without... followed immediately by my NPNG pre-amps, my MC-77 and my "komit" compressors.

Since Fletcher was allowed more than one thing (I know, I know; he is in a league of his own...) I'd like to chime in with three pieces;Wunder CM7, Royer SF-12 and my Universal Audio 2108. morten |

recalling that scene from "the jerk" where he is collecting things as he walks out of the mansion with his pants down around his ankles.... "All I need is this lamp........and these matches........and....." I'd have to have the D-41, the RB4, the DAW and one good mic...then I could still make a living. ... but if it had to be only one... I'd take the D41. One can always rent studio time somewhere else. |

I would have to say my instruments! Gear I have no trouble selling and rarely regret it, but when it comes to guitars and synths and amps and whatnot... no way! Selling an instrument always sets me up for regret!

My current set-up. I've frozen the DAW (no updates what so ever), fixed the basic sounds of all instruments (up and running - to my specs), and will run it until it evaporates. No more upgrade hassle. No more "gotta get another mic pre" - which actually is a shear lie since I've ordered the GAP Pre73. But that's it. So why do I hang around here? Well, I'm a "dry slut" and one never knows when a relapse may occur.

My horn. Excepting that, my Rhodes 73 Mk1 Just below that is my RCA BN5A. All of which are not easily replaced, and carry way more intrinsic and sentimental value than any (replaceable) piece of audio recording gear... |
