Thread Starter | Overdub Suites in Brooklyn
I am moving to NY in September and have been looking for a cheap space for my studio to no avail. I track major projects at larger facilites so I really just need a small room with a vocal booth for mixing and overdubs. I can only afford around $500 monthly and haven't been able to find anything within my budget. I am thinking there may be other people in a similar situation. I am now looking at larger spaces with the intention of dividing it up into 3 or 4 small suites, each with their own vocal booth. Each room would be fairly small ( 10 by 20) with a booth(10by 10) and would be rented for $500-600 monthly Does anyone think there is a market for this sort of facillity? Is someone else already doing it? |

By the way, 10X20 dimensions is BIG for $500/mo. HUGE. scale down your expectations. Though i might be looking to share a small space in midtown with one or two other people, so maybe we should talk. -Ken | |

Yep definitly not looking at Mid town, just way too expensive. I'm thinking East Williamsberg may be the best option. There are some cool lofts and it's right across the bridge to Manhattan. You'd think with all the producers out there someone would be doing this already. I see this as similar to monthly band rehearsal spaces but for producers. |

yeah you're going to have a tough time finding something for 500 unless you are splitting it up with a few people. east williamsburg is definitely a good bet. the last rooms i saw for rent in the city was a studio relocating over by battery park. rooms from 1800 to 3200 with access to the live room.

Thanks for the replies. I'd love to hear from anyone else. : ) I'm seriously contemplating doing the buildout myself. |

Good luck! Please don't get your hopes up too much at that budget, without building out a crap studio apt. yourself. Regards, jhg
