Help Guitar Noise!!

I need help quieting my noise issues with guitar. My studio has it's own 20 amp circut,(not sharing with anything else in the house),and I recently bought
both, the furman AT-1220,and the IT-1220.Hooked them up for absolutly NO IMPROVMENT! My studio noise floor is quiet, untill I plug in a guitar.Even my les paul w/humbuckers is noisey, and single coils are completely unusable ,which totally sucks.I have these problems even when going direct, and with an amp it's like CRAZY BUZZZZZZ.
If anyone has some info ,that would be great.(yes, the guitars are shielded, and yes I've tried turning off my monitors)

PLEASE HELP!

I wish I could recall where I saw Fletcher comment on recording guitars--he said something like, once he turns on the amp, he pretty much gives up worrying about the noise floor, but he said it better, ya know, like he does

only thing I might ask is if you have any CRT computer monitors anywhere near, and what kind of lighting do you have (any dimmers?)

No dimmers,or any lights hooked up to the same circut for that matter.I have one crt monitor that is turned off when I'm tracking.(Although, there's no difference unless I'm really close to that monitor)

'Bout ready to build a copper bomb shelter!!!

You don't have any compact fluorescent bulbs, do you?

You could always resort to guitars with active electronics....

try some test leads with alligator clips. experiment with 'shorting' out different components. I have a guitar that quiets down when I connect the strings or the tailpiece to one of the switches or pots. I don't know why but it works.

Try re-orienting the guitar/amp position...move around in the room...use a longer cord and stand in another room...

Stray EMI can be nearly impossible to track down...you may have something as simple as a ground loop somewhere, or a buried high power line near your property...or it could be as simple as replacing guitar cords eith a GeorgeL or similar...since humbuckers buzz as well, I would venture to guess its a grounding issue...

Is the amp on the floor? Are you standing on the bare floor, or on a rubber backed throw rug? Leather sole shoes vs sneakers...perhaps plugging the amp into the same circuit you have lights on...

Good luck! It took weeks for me to find that either the amp or the player had to be physically separated from the floor before an EMG loaded tele would stop buzzing like a Marine Corps haircut...

I had the same problem, I had a bad buzz and I bought a
Equi-tech balanced power unit to fix it.
As it turned out the Equi-tech unit would do NOTHING
if I didn't have a good ground at the fuse box, so I hired
a electrician and he installed a 6 foot copper rod into the
ground by the box and ran a nice big copper cable to it.
It wasn't much money and worked good.
This is a common thing for electricions to do and it should be easy to get a quote.

All I can say is it worked for me
Good luck
