Amek CIB vs Neve 1081 vs Neve 1073 (vintage or new)

Hello,

i´m new here, and i need serious help, because i cant test anywhere the devices im interested in...

Neve 1073 (vintage) the Legend they say, but where ist the difference to the 1081 (vintage) and how do the new ones sound like? - the same? - surely not, i think!?

then the CIB, Rupert Neve with Amek, everybody says it is on the same stand as the Neve 1073s or 1081s, but manufacturing technologies made the CIB cheaper for the same quality...true?

Why i need them for:

Mainly preamping line levels from older analog synths; eqing to make kick hard like steel and bass tight like a cats pussy ) is that possible so far ?
then i will buy a neumann U47 with M7 capsule somewhen if they wont go up to 5000+$

please tell me where the difference between those even very similar devices is...i make goa&psytrance and ambient, and im trying to get a prophet vs, a kyma and an orville - i think i might kick ass then theoretically

but which preamp? shall i take?

thanks!

...not really helpful, i need to know the quality and kickass difference between the vintage 1073 or 1081 to the modern Amek CIB, i´m looking forward to buy, because of an additional kompressor limiter at top notch quality, true?

thanks again

well, you know what i mean with kickas...don´t you? - well then the bang for the buck difference ...sorry, im expressing myself rudely

I just dont wanna ask that way: "Where are the audible sonic differences between 1073 and CIB, and how does the addidional conpresor affect the audio quality...

or are the differences so minimal to forget about them?

don´t know...i just know that Infected Mushroom have a vintage Neve 1081, and they their bassline and kicks are almost unique in psytrance scene

so...what about CIB?

thanks again!

if you do a search on all 3 individually, you will find many many replies to these questions and ultimately learn 4 things:

1) it is a matter of taste and application
2) you should test them in real life and decide for yourself
3) they are all 3 excellent, depending on taste and application
4) this is the high end, so buy all 3 :-)

There is really NO common ground between the CIB and either of the 2 other units.

they are all nice tools though, and the simple fact is that you have to listen to them for yourself. If you cant do that, call Nathan Eldred.

A Neve 1084 is (roughly speaking) a 1073 pre with an expanded hf eq & hi & low pass filters.
HF shelfs at 10,12 & 15k plus a hi Q button instead of fixed 12k shelf.
I find it more flexible than a 1073.

If the EQ isn't so important then AMS-Neve have just brought out 2 X 1073 pre amps in a 1u rack mount.
Very tasty and reasonably priced.

go to <http://www.ams-neve.com/prod/out.htm>. you'll find 1073, 1084 and 1081.

1084 is basically a 1073 with more switchable freqs.+hi and lo pass filters. both 3 bands of EQ - both Class A, so bottom end is just about as tight as a cat's pussy.

31102 is basically a 1084 that looks different - came in 8058/68 consoles. look around. they're available.

1081 is class A/B and is said to be 'sweeter' sounding (4 bands of EQ) - sweeter than a cat's pussy? wooow...
