Check the manual - I'm not near mine, but I think it says 20 hours at moderate volumes.

The burn in time depends on many things (humidity rate, temperature, spyder and surround rigidity). The only adivise I can give you is to burn the pseakers in with a music rich in bass (I mean with a lot of informations recorded between 30 to 80Hz : classical music or jazz) at a moderate level.

From a trustworthy source I've learnt that burn in should be done on low levels initially and slowly shifting to higher levels and deep bass. Music is best though.. avoid sines and noise.

Not only the spider and surround undergoes changes when a speaker is broken in but glue and glue joints as well.. oh and soft cones also of course.

Burning in a speaker the wrong way can lead to increased distortion.

The materials used in the cones of Focal monitors are exceptionally rigid [I've been to the factory, seen the process, it's quite remarkable!!]. As far as "burn in" goes I've not experienced as much of a need for it with Focal stuff as I have with other drivers... if they were mine, I'd put music through then at about 80-85db when I left work for the day and shut it off when I came back to work the next day.

In other words, I wouldn't go nuts about the procedure.

Peace.

My favorite burn in CD:
Lou Reed "Hudson river meditations"

Track 2 is a killer workout for bass drivers... the whole CD rules!

So did you actually work with them for 50 hrs while they changed their sound with burn-in? Wouldn't that mess with your head? haha

when i said "working" i meant they worked\burn in like 20-30 hours with all type of music in low volume, and slowly, slowly i push the volume up.
after that i start to work on my projects....

ime, 50 hours minimum to really mellow that tweet. by 75 things are pretty smooth.

out of the box is not so pretty. i wish they burned them in at the factory, i suspect they'd increase their sales.

Yeah, when I first heard mine I was a little freaked out. They did not sound right at all. I shifted them around a bit, then let the burn in period commence. That did wonders. I love these monitors.
