Mic Care

Howdy,

Got a Sony C-800G and I wanted to get some advice. I wanted to protect it from dust and moisture, but I use it every night, so I don't want to take it off the stand and put it in the case after every time I use it.

It's in a vocal booth right now and I wrap it with some Saran wrap after it cools down.

As I understand it, the standard proceedure is to put some kind of dust cover over it and put something in the dust cover to soak up the humidity.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Klaus. I'm gonna pick up some of the silica packets and then I think I'm all set.

what you dont want to do is what you sould do imho.

i have seen people trip over things and almost bring down a u47 a time or 2. i never leave mics up. id rather wear out or break a shock mount from constant removal than have the mic hit the floor from several feet off the ground.

ps-some people use crown royal bags to cover their mics when not in use.

Thanks for the Rep. I think I'm okay in that department 'cause the mic is in a Whisper Room and suspended from the ceiling of the room.

It's funny, I've gotten about 6 different people mentioning the Crown Royal bag.
