I've tried the Inflator and have a HEDD192. I like the HEDD more for its tape saturation as well as its AD. The inflator... well, it's good but i didn't buy it.

I like putting the HEDD at the end of my mix chain thus being able to add a bit of processing before hitting the AD.

You should try Cranesong's plugin as it probably does the tape/warmth thing best on individual tracks.

I haven't tried the Hedd but if I was to compare the inflator, VW and the Phoenx the following would be my order from best to worse:

1. Phoenix
2. VW
3. Inflator

I'm only comparing "warming up" functions here not any of the other bells and whistles (in which case the phoenix has none)

I have the Inflator, Phoenix and the hedd. The inflator adds more bottom and crunches the top end more than the hedd. I use the hedd to flavor tracks and the inflator on the 2 buss in PT...on all the time when mixing to see whats jumping out of the mix. The phoenix is the most flexible...especially since you can put it on after the fact. YMMV

Don't forget that the HEDD has a killer A/D section...it's not just a great sounding processor, it's a great front end to a digital system. And it makes coffee.

Vintage Warmer can produce some very NON-subtle results. I'm a little suspicous of it today, as a bunch of tracks I'm mixing got a generous helping of vintage warming applied, and now I'm wondering if the "effect" is "wearing off." In other words, though I was initially quite happy with the results, I'm not sure they'll stand the test of time...

I use the distressor and FATSO also for "warming" functions. They can work wonders...
