Advice on stereo/dual mono pre (W/eq?)

Hi!

I need some advice on buying a mic pre. I have a Trident MTA iXone, with 16 pre's in 2u 19". These pre's sounds nice, but i need something a bit more high end, for vocals, acoustic guitar, and other more demanding sources.

There are so many alternatives, so I need you guys to dish up some of your experiences etc.

Thanx Tor!

Tor, what sort of sound in a pre are you wanting - using your Tridents for comparison? Do you want something cleaner and more natural? Or do you want something with even more color, balls and punch?

What kind of music are you mainly recording? What kind of sound are you going for?

How many channels? What's your budget?

Hi!

Well I triewd out the Great River NP2V (I think?) It sounded great, but maybe a bit out of my league. I need something between 1000-1500$.

Either two mono pre's or one stereo, it is not so important. I'm looking for a very clean pre. I need something to "open up" compared to the trident. Somthing with more air. The Trident's are great, but I need something with more and better high frequencies.

Thanx Tor

Ah, du er dansker. Hej med dig!

Something cleaner with more air. With eq. 2 channels. Between $1000 - $1500.

I dunno about the EQ. You're not really going to get anything in a pre w/ EQ for that kind of money that's really good. You could get some of these mid-level 2-channel channel strips.

I'd actually recommend you not worry about EQ and just get some great pres with your budget. And since you're in Denmark, you should contact ELBERG through http://www.vadlyd.dk/English/Elberg/...pro_audio.html

Elberg, the man who owns and makes ELBERG products is just coming out with an MP2. We have an MP8 and it is a stunning preamp. Very clean. Lots of dimension, imagery and air. Really magic pres. They aren't available in the US. We have the only MP8 ever made with a 115V power supply.

Elberg's email is elberg@adr.dk

Send him an email and tell him I referred you and recommended his ELBERG preamps. Maybe he could even make you one with an EQ.

Du må også hils. : )

Here's a picture of the ELBERG MP-8

Hi

Well. It was never a demand, that the unit had EQ. Not at all. It was just á thought.

I have been looking at the elberg, but i don't have any prices. Kinovox denmark doesn't have any listed on their website.

But I'll try contacting him on an MP2.
