i have only 2 sennheiser md421's and several 57's for use on my toms.... (2 rack toms, 1 floor) should i use a 57 on the third tom or should i "double up" with one of the 421's to cover both rack toms so i don't have to use the 57? what would you do? thanks.

I love the drum sound on that song. Sounds like the compressors were driven to the point of distortion. Great tune! I don't have any problems with using one mic for two toms. Depends on the style of music. Jason

Usually if any tom sounds different than the others, it's the floor tom so I'd use 2 similar mics (57's or 421's ) on the racks and the "other" mic on the floor. Experiment tho cuz every situation is different. Good Luck! |
