You can base the work on an hourly fee or a flat fee.

Keep in mind, you're providing the studio, engineer, composition and performance...

What is your time worth?

I'm in the US and I've done this a few times and have been told not to charge less than $5,000 USD for 30 seconds, $7,500 for 60 seconds.

But you're in Canada, right? Hmmm. About $759 I guess.

(The last line is a joke. The rest is true.)

If you were given $5000 and had to pay for a quality studio, engineer, composer and performers, all serious professionals, you'd probably find that it doesn't go very far.

Exactly. It's all pretty relative, and depends on the area where you live.
