Question HELP! PTHD w/ Prism ADA-8XR

Ok, so this combo has already worked for me.

Nothing physically has moved (i.e. no computer or hardware bumps, etc)

After doing some new wiring, when I try and open a Pro Tools session I get...

"DAE unable to communicate with hardware. error (-6004)"

Tried inserting the Digilink cable into both of the Prism's PTHD card ports, nada.
Did the old plug and unplug on the same cable to the Core card. Nada.

Same computer. Prism. Cable... from last time it worked.

HELP! please

Have you tried the all important. Trash the preferences and repair disk permissions? (I assume you're on a Mac).

If that doesn't work. Try completely removing PT software and reinstalling fresh after repairing the disk permissions.

Hopefully, someone else has better advice.

Oooooouch! Yeah, thanks. Honestly, but... I'll see if I can solve or get a suggestion before I have to do that.

Man this is odd.

(Yes, my call is into Prism... Sunday, eh)

Thank you to those few who have helped me. Truly.

I do, however; find it both ironic and pathetic that this forum can barely sustain 4 posts on a high-end product topic (and I'm betting there are plenty of PTHD and Prism users out there) and yet we can EASILY get 3000+ views on some Bvllshit ANCIENT plug versus hardware thread.

That's just sad.

(Not sayinin' I haven't stocked a fire or two, but I at least try and leave more advice/info than crap behind here)

Thank you again to those who are the real deal.

Seriously, though, the best advice has been given. Trash preferences (see DUC forum, Mac PTHD, top link for a quick application) and retry. That fixes most things and it only takes a few seconds to put prefs back in.

If that fails, reinstall (what a 20 min job?). You don't have to do plugins, etc, just PT.

In the time you've taken to b & w on this thread about no responders, you could be working again.

These things crop up all the time whether with Digi's own hardware, LTHD cards, X HD cards, SSL DeltaLinks, etc. Always the same solution... Rarely is it a hardware problem if no one's been knocking things around in the machine room.

the only time I had a communication issue (I have the same exact setup), I reloaded the PT HD preset on the Prism and everything locked right back up.

Try reloading your preset, it may not be the Mac at all.
Good luck, I feel for you.
