Monitor-Room Issue

Finally, ADAM is officially exported to Israel.

Well, I was about to get my self a pair of S3A but I’ve talked with a professional acoustic adviser and he told me that double 7.5" woofer monitor is not fit my control room and it's a bad bad choice to my room.

My room is 6M Long - 3M wide - 2.65 High.

He told me that anything bigger than 6" will make an unbalanced boomy sound because freq waves need space to develop and monitors need a lot of space, and it's a matter of physics.

I just want to mention that the room is well acoustically treated including bass traps, ceils foams and Auralex Wedgies Acoustic Foams on the sidewalls.

I don't know what to think - I’m all confused.

Should I end up with a smaller monitor or not?

Oh, and the money is not a priority.

Thanks.

I dont want to sound like an A-hole, but:

- you are buying a professional set of monitors from a knowledgable company.

- I don't think Auralex is considered a professional product.

If he was trying to upsell to 8" of 10" of something ridiculous i would be worried but he is trying to get you to buy something that will work better in your situation that i assume is cheaper too.

I have a pretty small room. 11 foot by 14 foot, with slot resonants, hardwood diffusers, panel traps and bass traps. I use a set of Krk V4's. They only have a small 4" woofer and provide me with adequate amounts of lower end.

I'd probably follow his recommendations.

you can spend more money, and possibly have very unaccurate monitoring,

or

save a few pennies, and have more accurate monitoring?

I know what i'd be doing.

Hitphy,

That is so wrong I don't know where to start. Get the speakers you think sound good. Unless they have twin 15-inch woofers, they will not be too large for your room.

In that case...

Have a look at my company's web site, linked under my name below. If accurate monitoring is important to you, you'll do a lot better with the treatment and traps we sell than what you have now.

While you're at our site, have a look at some of the many articles listed iin the Acoustics Info section.
