I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with their monitor systems. I am specifically interested in the mm-8 speakers, but any information would be greatly appreciated. |

hi lee, i'm sure you want an unbiased response from outside of school...but i'm grabbing a pair of the PM6's and the 18inch infrasub pro. chris owns the MM8s and a 12" infrasub...they sound amazing. that said, nothing sounds flattering on the mm8s unless it's mixed great...very truth-telling. we've got the pm6s and 12"sub in our labs which you can check out if you haven't already. my recommendation would be, don't forget to get the sub. bag end is known for their tight and clean bottom end and you'll be missing out without the sub imo. just expect some pissed off neighbors if they're for your home.

I owned a pair of MM8's as well as an Infrasub for a number of years and when paired with a nice amp, the system sounded great to my ears! With that being said, it was really my first experience with a higher-end monitoring system and I honestly have no idea where they would stand now in today's monitoring hierarchy. This is mostly due to my owning them while I was first learning how to record as well as having them in a terrible, terrible listening environment. I lost them due to a business venture gone sour almost a decade ago. I'd love to A/B them next to my current setup so I could see/hear what I've been missing... or not. But, for what it's worth, I recall them really easy to listen to for extended periods of time. Also, the imaging was really sweet! They seemed extremely phase coherent as well and transient information was well portrayed. I don't recall the system ever exhibiting "slam", but just giving you an honest "unhyped" presentation of the music. The Infrasub was awesome! it operated below the cabinet's resonant peak, thus reaching a purported 8Hz. I would always touch the sub's woofer with my hand to feel how much excursion was there when soloing individual tracks. This helped me in determining where to filter low end. Often times I couldn't hear the sub frequencies, but the woofer would be thrashing about violently. I'd sweep the low end until the woofer stopped and I found my mixes would slowly start coming together! I don't know if this helps at all, but I'd say they're definitely worth checking out!

I can only report on the Infrasub-12 Pro, which I am using with five ADAM S2-A's. It blends beautifully with these, delivering a very solid, but un-hyped, bottom end. David L. Rick Seventh String Recording |

I know this is an old thread...but am looking into the PM6's myself. I already own a Bag End 4x12 Guitar Cab, 4X10 bass cab, and 1 x 15 bass cab. All three of these cabs are far superior to anything else we have (not gonna get into wht but there are a lot of different cabs). When I started looking for something to set up a 5.1 mix room I was looking only towards Bag End.
