could you give us some insight on what you are recording so we can better help you?
if you are doing distorted guitar the tg-2 is great.
the drs and mp2nv are good on many things. i like the 2nv on kick and snare.

API (or BA) 312's would work fine for what your doing......

That list is quite versatile......and you could do a lot with it....

I just got the Vintech, and so far it's amazing.

I've also heard nothing but great things about the GR and the Chandler.

How about the Seventh Circle chassis? Then you can get Neve-type, API-type and JH-type preamps in once box...

Or an API, BA or OSA lunchbox?

There are so many great units out there - it's really a buyers market.

I'd suggest something a little different; purchase a 4 or 6 space API 500 series rack (from API, Brent, whoever). Then purchase 2ch of either API, Brent, OSA or ??? modules. YOu will get your 2ch of great quality preamps, and you will have the "infrastructure" in place for another pair of preamps (same or different model) or a pair of EQs, compressors, etc.

The lunchbox was a great idea if only API made products for it; but with Brent, OSA and who knows who else making 100% compatible modules, its one of the best deals in the industry.

great river or neve or UA that matches my voice?

I've also been looking for a great pre that will match my voice.

here are some songs for deciding on what my voice is like.. I can't decide on what pre suites me!!

MySpace.com - Michael Cerveni - CA - Acoustic / Alternative - www.myspace.com/michaelcerveni

I'll be recording acoustic guitar, vocals, piano, and some synths.

I was looking into the UA 6176 channel strip because it combines the 1176 compressor and the 610 together which i thought was a good buy considering i can bypass the compressor and use another one or add another preamp and use the 1176 compressor that's built in. but would it match my type of voice?

I've used the Avalon 737 in the studio before, it sounds too hi fi for me.
great on acoustic guitars though, great eq.

I heard great river is awesome for rock vocals and electric guitars as well...
I'll be recording mainly acoustic guitar and vocals so what are my best options?
