I'm sure its happened to me before, but this time it was very noticiable and down right annoying. We tried tuning the toms a bit, which helped some.. but not entirely. Any of you guys run into this problem? What did you do?
If it's a fairly simple tom pattern, perhaps the easiest, quickest & most effective musically thing to do would be to just do two drum takes. First one with all drums but air-drum the tom pattern (which is the cause of the problem) and then straight away, do another take with the drummer airdrumming along with himself until he does the actual tom part (with the snare turned off). I can't see why that shouldn't work. Plus it gives you lots of cool mix options on the tom sound.

I'd love the studio bod to help out though. Thwack!

Sorry guys, I didn't came back for a while.

It's plain simple : turn the snare upside down, use a handkerchief or teatowel to coat the snares with oil.

That + a tad of tuning and you're done.

Put the snare back in its place, enjoy !

Best,
Sylvain
