ADAM S3 Passive

Hello mates.

Is anyone having an experience with the passive version of the ADAM S3?

I can't afford myself the active model.

And the passive model is 1600 EURO less for a pair...

So I thinking, why should I buy the S2'a if I can buy the S3 Passive.

Now I know the active is much better, technically speaking...
With the three 150 W amplifiers and the Crossovers...

But again - don't have more than 2000~2700 EURO to spend.

That's why I’m asking anyone who's work with them or at least check them...

I’m trying to get the best of my money with the Adam’s Models...

I will search the forum for some active Vs Passive Threads, but if you have a specific opinion about those I would love to hear...

Any one recommend ADAM passive? Or should I go for the actives one ?

I’m asking this because I’m about to fly and get my self a pair because we don't have any of ADAM here in
isra-hell (just kidding )
And I want to check all the options I’ve got.

P.S
Sorry if this subject has been discussed before and sorry about my lame English….

Thanks.

In my experience where ADAM do not have a distributor (and they don't in Israel) they will sell directly to the customer at a discount. Also because you are outside the European union they can sell to you without charging VAT. This will result in a price for the S3-As which is far closer to your budget than you might think.

I have no experience of the passive S3 but the actives have changed my work for the better more than anything else I have ever bought for the studio (and I've bought a lot ).

Call Kirsten at ADAM, she is very very helpful,

cheers,
Ruairi

I lined up a pair of S3 and S3As.
I used the S3 with a PASS labs x250 which cost more than a pair of S3As.
both pairs sounded great the S3As just a little brighter or more detailed. and the S3s a hair smoother.
Because the S3s and S3As are the same size i would reccomend the S3As. It seemed like a waste of space to go with the amp version in my equiptment overloaded controll room.

Active - 2100EURO
Passive - 1225EURO

I supposed this is for one piece...I think...well I don’t know, it's in German....

Please keep in mind that you'll need a really good amplifier to drive the passive ones. A Samson or Alesis amp won't do you any good. The S3's will tell you brutally honest just how good or bad your amp is...
