Hello guys

Anyone can tell me something good or bad about Favry Engineering's AD converters? Who's got one, which one and what are your comments about the units?

Regards, have fun

Andreas

If you mean "Lavry" converters... golly, I have some but I'm sure you've never heard my stuff... I don't know the 'famous user list' off the top of my head... but I do know there are a bunch of famous users.

I have found them to be very clear and musical... great detail, great imaging, very easy to hook up and use with a great clock.

Don't know what else to say about them.

Hello Fletcher

Yeah, sorry I meant Lavry Engineering.
Do you know anything about prices?

Regards

Andreas

I do. I consider them pretty reasonable. You have me in a bit of a pickle here because our store sells them... but I don't like to play "pimp" on this forum.

There is an ad for our shop that comes up in the upper right hand corner of this forum from time to time... there are ads for other shops that carry the Lavry stuff as well. May I suggest that you click on the ads and find the price(s).

Sorry to be evasive, but I consider it bad form for dealers to pimp on these forums... my previous comments came solely from my engineering perspective, and [hopefully] not from the pimp perspective.

Sorry I can't be of more instant assistance here.

Peace.

If you're in Europe you may be able to buy them direct from Lavry Engineering. Contact Priscilla Lavry.

They sound truly great ! Natural, detailed, warm... ALso have digital and analog saturation .
Only one should not misplace these two as I did day before yesterday, when we were recording some ethnic drums. I wanted to switch on the limiter on Lavry to take care of ocassional hot strikes during the drum recording, so I put on the digital saturation (thinking it was the limiter). It was there all the time.
Only now I found out that I should have switched the ANALOG saturation, which is actually that simple limiter. The digital saturation is an analogue tape emulation (a bit confusing) and generally makes the things sounding a bit "wooly" as if (the last thing I would expect from a drum recording) ..
When I now compared a single drum recording with and without the digital saturation, I was not very happy with what I did ...
