Is there a difference between the vertical and horizontal Dakings?

From what I've read I'm thinking there isn't.I just wondered if
someone could tell me for sure whether the was a difference
between the 2 versions.I know only the horizontal one is now
produced.

Thanks,
Pete Ruthenburg

They're the same except for the front panel.

Dave Martin is right, there is no circuit/sound difference...EXCEPT that the horizontal's we now have (labeled MicPreEQ and FET II Compressor) do have some updates. The EQ on the Mic PreEQ added another frequency to the EQ and the FET II latest edition added a hard bypass to gain-the earlier limiters had gain active all the time, for use with a console (since you would just bypass it on the console channel to hear with/without).

A little. It depends on how you look at it.

C'mon, Brad... What I should have said is that there's no difference between the vertical and horizontal Dakings of the vintage that I own...

Does Geoff even make a vertical version of the newer "B" series Dakings?

There are some differences btw the older Daking and the new. The vertical modules would obviously be of the older variety. The old ones had hpf's @ 25, 50 and 100 hz. The new one only has 25hz, but adds a frequency in both mid-bands. I like having the extra hpf's. I also hear a difference in the sound of the preamp from old to new but I'm not sure why that would be. Geoff sometimes lurks on this board, maybe he will chime in. One thing I know is that he makes a damn fine product @ a very reasonable price. Actually, more than reasonable. One day I will have him build me a 16*8 sidecar/console if I ever get out of debt.

No, he doesn't, not since he had to change manuf. plants. There isn't enough demand for them to justify "tooling up" for it.
