| focusrite console pics
Six photos attached of the Metropolis (London) console. There is some confusion as the nameplate on the desk says it's one and the Manual front cover says it's the other (Studio/Forte). It is, I believe, a Studio. I have decommissioned this one twice and re-built it twice, the photos show the Ikea flat-pack Focusrite console in various stages of build. The individual 8 channel buckets are all interconnected by external cables and Edac connectors rather than a motherboard, which makes it fairly "busy" round the back. Ideally it should be fitted in front of a two foot deep trench! The audio quality is superb, however the console design shows evidence of being designed by a committee in a hurry on a friday afternoon. There's some appalling cock-ups most of which were ironed out by the chief engineer of Metropolis John Goldstraw. For example, unassigned channels have the solo function disabled. That's fine. However, if you select "2T tape" on the monitor panel, you may not hear anything because any unassigned but selected solos will mute the monitors. That's wacky. The studio it moved to was barely larger than the desk, there was 1 ft spare at one end and 2ft at the other. As there was no floor space, cables were attached to wall panels and covered with fabric drapes. The two six foot racks of psus were housed in a garden shed built next to the studio, whose wood dired out beautifully when the desk was on. Two of the largest Genelec triamped monitors sat in the position normally reserved for Auratones or NS-10s, leaving the owner to complain that he heard more hf when he stood up, so we tilted them as much as was reasonably safe. The small aircon units shown in the pictures had a tough life, they were used to a small DDA console before this. Last edited by zaentzpantz; 18th September 2010 at 11:13 AM.. Reason: extra info |

Hahaha. Yea, everyone has a "volume" shot. I personally like to stand up and reach for a line trim pot.
