Thread Starter | royer R121 or AEA R84? Looking to add some ribbon flavour to my mic list. Main sources to record are mostly dist guitars, drums and vocals. So, what would be your first choice? Just looking for some users“ opinions... Greetings, Dirk

| I don't use the Royers, but we have the AEA R84's and I made some clips with them: http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/...2079&alid=1018 I love this mic. One day I'll have to check out the Royer stuff too as I hear good things about them as well. I agree with Nathan's statement in that linked thread about a "larger than life" sound with the R84. War

| I was gonna mention the Royer SF-1's also (mentioned in linked thread), as I have used the SF-12 on overheads with great results. It's a very warm sound, with obviously less bright high end than a condenser. The drummer loved it. This was an acoustic jazz session. |
