Thread Starter | Vocal Mics - Male Voice Gearslutzers! I'm looking to buy a really nice vocal mic (a high end mic) for my own vocals (I write indie pop & folk ballads). I was thinking of demo'ing 3 mics, so wanted to gain some invaluable gearslutz opinions. I've attached an MP3, I have quite a soft tone in my singing voice. This was recorded on a Neumann TLM 49. I am looking for a mic that'll make my voice sizzle, this mic I find a bit dark (though great for other things - acoustic guitar particularly, very smooth). Not having worked in a studio with a large mic collection, your opinions will be very interesting to read, Many Thanks, James

| The Dirk Brauner Phantom AE and Neumann U87 Vintage are great choices. The new Telefunken Elam 251E is great for male vocals. The Sony C-800G is also good for pop. Elam 251E/C-12 or Peluso 251/C-12 copy a U-67 or U-87 depending on your budget the sony C-800G. How much are you willing to invest?

| You'll save yourself a great deal of time if you get a Wunder CM7. Try both capsules (M7 and K47). |
