Urei 809 cones

I have a pair of Urei and have to re-cone them. Anybody knows where I could find the appropriate cone?

may I ask "why are you reconing those things?"
I remember them to be useless...there are newer designs that kill those things.

Point taken...Somebody left them here at the studio but the cones are practically distroyed. I guess I'll take your advice and get rid of them.
Thanks anyway

They are meant to be soffit mounted.

If not they sound like ass free standing.

Back in the day they had a certain character which you identified with the music at the time.

And also like NS10's if you made them dance, the music pretty much translated anywhere.

The drivers are no longer available from JBL. The re-cone kits are though. It costs around $200 to have the job done from an authorized JBL service shop. As far as the sound goes... I think 809's can be very effective for low end placement if they are soffit mounted properly. They seem to work pretty well when they are matched with some of the higher wattage amps that were released around the time that the speakers were popular...JBL 6500 and the JBL6260.
