A mic so good I feel dirty (in a good way, though)

Man, I'm doing some of the editing work on the recording that I made down in Australia ( http://www.gearslutz.com/board/showt...threadid=17725 ) and I can help but be in serious gear lust for the microphone that I used for my vocal soloist.

The mic in question was the DPA 4041 which is a large diaphragm omnidirectional mic. It runs on 130v phantom and it can be run with 2 bodies. (instead of switchable capsules, it has switchable bodies) The first is the traditional solid state body and the second is a tube-based body. We used the tube on the tenor soloist and I swear I've never heard a vocal sound so good. It is just the most natural, beautiful sound I think I've ever come across.... Probably not ideal for some of the pop guys out there, but being omnidirectional, we ended up closer than I'd normal mic a classical singer and it sounded fantastic. No proximity or anything...

This is an absolutely amazing piece of equipment and I highly recommend it....

Sigh... Now I just need to figure out how to afford that (with everything else I need to buy)..

Those are great mics. I may have a demo kicking around if you want a deal on it.
