Distressor's "redline" issue

Hi

I use a pair of distressors since 1 year and a half and since a few days one have its "redline" LED always lit, even when no sound is passing thru.

I've compared the sound with the other, and no particular problems seem append to the sound, but it's still embarrassing.

Have someone an idea of where the problem is ?
Thanx a lot

S.

PS : sorry for my english

I have EXACTLY this same issue. Doesn't affect the audio quality, but it's odd.

Not sure if this will help, but you could check the link cables between the distressors, make sure there are 2 working cables between em. I remember reading linking without a good cable results in distortion (red led) in the manual.

Thanx for the advice, but even with all cables unplugged, the led is still on...

very odd...

I don't know the answer, but have you tried contacting Empirical Labs?
They have excellent customer service and should get right back to you with an answer. They sent me a free replacement power switch for a secondhand Distressor... you can't get much better than that.

Do you used that unit more that the other? It might need to be realigned.

Nope, they're always on together...
I think that's just some kind of "cosmetic" issue, cuz when I compare the same sound running in both units, it's strictly sounding the same...

I'll email ELI anyway, thanx

Hi
I was not at home the last few weeks but I've emailed Mr Derr yesterday about this issue.

Hope he'll answer quickly.
I'll let you know.

Cheers

Redline Problem

Hey guys. Someone emailed me to look at this post. I think we already answered one of you. This isn't a common problem that I know of, but we would be glad to fix it for free, since the circuit is very simple, and we do not get many repairs back.

If you go to our website or look on the back of your manual, there is an email contact or phone number. Let us fix your unit so you don't have to be "embarassed" or nervous at all. Our technicians take pride in fixing things fast and having you back to work in no time. Even if something is out of warranty, we have the policy of fixing it for free, since working up an invoice, and billing the customer may well take longer than the repair itself.

Hey Dave thank you for answering quickly.
I sent you a mail at your Techsupport address on the ELI website 2 days ago about that. (I think it's the email address you mention above)
It's very kind of you to propose me a free repair, I really appreciate that but since I'm living in France, it would cost me more than a tech to send it safely to the US & have it back.
I was just asking in the case it was a common issue that I could fix by myself.

But again thank you for the proposal, you're great.

Hi, just got my second-hand-distressors and I've got exactly the same problem with one of the two! I'm living in the Netherlands, so sending them back to US is the same burdon as sending it from France...I guess we have to live with it...? they sound great though looking forward to get them to know better... e
