Question What reverb to sell...

I have:

Lexicon 480L
Roland R-880
AMS-16
Lexicon PCM 70
Fairchild spring reverb
Roland RSS reverb
Ursa Major Space Station

Dont' need 'em all

Whhat should go in your opinion?

And what should I keep as a good collection that compliment each other?

(Of course, there are plenty of delays, Harmonizers and other FX units to suppliment)

Just looking or good opiniions and your reasnong behind them from fellow slutz

Yeah? How much? But seriously.

Cool verb, by the way.

P.S. It's actually cooler, it's the Ursa Major Stargate 626

Which one haven't you used yet in 2008. Sell that one. P.S. I'd agree with the PCM 70 depending on how decked out your 480 is.

Why not sell the PCM-70 and the RSS? You should be able to get decent money for these, and it will still leave you with a Roland and a Lexicon that should maintain value.

Aren't the 480L and R-880 sort of covering a lot of the same bases?

suppose it's down to the RSS and the AMS.
The reason for dumping the RSS is personal.. i just never could find a use for those things.. way too wishy washy for my tastes. so what if you can send something to the left hand corner and then spin it round the room if the price you pay is this ghostlike tone with no substance!
You can do similar spacey FX with way more substance using the ursa.
I like the sound of the AMS (you mean RMX..right?)but it's a bit limited..as i imagine the fairchild is ( never come across one before, but i'm a BIG fan of spring reverbs which, in my opinion cannot be emulated .. so the fairchild stays.. unless it's a lemon!). what you will be sacrificing by selling the AMS is the grit that they have.. but one day it will go insane on you and medical help is hard to find for senile reverbs. My guess is that you won't miss it much if you use a gritty echo to provide a pre delay in front of one of the other boxes.
That was fun! Are you planning on getting something slutty with the dough?

If you use convolution reverb then sell all of them now and cash in before they aren't worth a dime. I've got lots of outboard (Lex 480, TC M5000, M3000, Eventide H3000 etc) but the impulse responses I've got for TL Space sound just as good. (I have done extensive A/B listening tests). I haven't used any of my digital outboard for a while for that reason. Now, analog outboard (eq, dynamics etc) is an another story altogether.

If you're tired of those verbs, sell them all and find an EMT 250, kick back and
enjoy.

Funny, I'm exactley on the opposite side. After jumping the convolution train, I returned in full to my outboard reverbs. I worked with Space Designer, Altiverb and TL Space and they always lacked this invisibility and 3dness of my Bricasti, Quantec and EMT 252.
Maybe it depends, what music you're doing and your mixing preferences.

Get rid of the stuff you don't use.

Same here. I achive much better (musical) results with the few pcm80 reverb presets, than with any altiverb impulse. In my opinion convolution stand alone sounds outstanding, but in the mix it doesn't fit, it is strange and orthopaedic comparing to the lexicon.

Interesting. I have run tests both "in the mix" and "solo A/B". Convolution reverb works just as well for me - both sonically and spacially.

Ahhh, and now the man who reads my mind!

Yeah, been wondering if the Lexicon 480L and Roland R-880 aren't covring the same territory.

As far as the Lexicon PCM 70, hard time lettin that go even with the the 480L, the "Tiled Room" is damn good and it gits wll with my 6 fx send/ 8 return board:

Lex 480L Stereo in/out
H3000 Stereo in /out
AMS RMX 16 mon in/stereo oout (desgiend that way
Lexicon PCM 70 same thing

Hmmm... that miht mean the Roland R-880, Ursa Major and a few others go.

I agree with your list of keepers, except you might add the RSS to that (assuming you do you use). The reason being, the RSS is a unique approach to reverb that none of the others duplicate.

But in general I agree with the earlier posters, sell whatever you aren't using.

I have an ursa major stargate, and in spite of its primitiveness, it seems to end up in nearly every mix I do... Go figure.
It does an early reflections thing that just works.

Interesting, what other verbs does the Ursa Major work along-side with?

Dude!!

What's the deal?

Have you recently gone deaf?

Lost complete confidence in your ability?

Why so many questions about gear that you presently own?

There is no better expert on what Dirty Halo should use on his 2 buss or for his reverbs than Dirty Halo.

This business we are in is not an exact science. There's no right way.

All of your heroes probably use different gear than each other yet all get great results.

We adapt to our methods and gear selection.

So unless you can find others who do everything else exactly like you, only you can answer these questions.

Enjoy.

Yep, absolutely good point. Just curious about how other people work.

Does anyone use the Pendulum 6386 on the 2-buss and if so, why, what do ya think... that sor o' thang.

I hear you, I do. I just trying to hear some new feedback. Guess lately I feel like I've been giving my opinion a lot and I could use some education, ideas and outisde input.

I don't ever want to stop learning or trying.

Disco?

I'm not big into disco and never was...but I will take the RMX-16 off of your hands if you decide to sell it.

I've heard that it's really not very good by today's standards anyhow.

Seriously. PM me if you really want to sell it.
