Chandler Limited TG2 Channel Modification

hello

i have great Chandler Limited tg2 channel. It sounds really cool , little bit noisy but i suppose this is normal - and still great

I like sound of eq especially so i thought that it could be great to have special input to eq only. What you think - is it possible, or hard to do?

Is it have sense at all for anybody?

This is passive eq so with that input i could turn off preamp and use eq only.

What you think?

The Channel has this special input already.
It is called "Line in".
It is located left just near the Di-Mic/Line - switch.

Nextas,
I have the TG-2 preamp and its very quiet, its not noisy at all.
This is not normal (for me anyway)......none of my chandler products are noisy.

I dont think running your signal into the "line" input would do anything "negative" to your signal.

I would get your unit looked at perhaps.
Or....buy a tone control....yummy.

thanks for answer

hmm tg2 not noisy/hissy... i have to sent it to distributor to check this. for now my other preamps like ua610, gt brick or presonus are much quieter. And this is not hum problem- only "normal"(?)analog hiss.

i will check tone control also, anyway it could be great to have possibility to use eq only even if tg2 is great preamp.

and this is not hum problem- only normal hiss.

I think you have a problem...it shouldn't be hissing

I sometimes get noise on my tg2 .... but I`m in Brasil in a building with lousy AC (2 prong , baby!) and I live too close to some radio towers ....even so , my clean pre (Earthworks Lab 102) is silent under the same conditions .Do you have less than stellar AC where you`re at ?

hey

thanks to all for posting.

everything is ok with my AC and my noise is nothing like hum or strange noise from AC. Maybe it is normal because every technical spec (but there is no on chandler site...) says that noise is -85dBm
while GT brick is -90 dB (but dB not dBm so maybe im unable to read/understand this right)

This my noise is nothig to fear of - only look out for good have good gain stage. Anyway i will send it back to test it right.

If somebody can say something more about reading signal to noise specification or about the main subject "MODIFICATION" please do it.
Still i want to have possibility to use eq with other preamps without tg2.

thanks again

TG is noiser then other pre's

i find the tg to be very hissy in comparison to my other pre's also, but its just the nature of the pre, it doesn't affect the signal at all.

i was concerned to!

i heard this hiss, especially on quiet vocals, its the nature of the preamp, but it is a noisy pre amp compared to my GML, SSL, Focusrite Pres, but i prefare the sound of the TG on certain sources.
