2007 US Economic Census-Sound Recording Studio and Sound Recording Related Industries

How many of you are filling this thing out?

7 pages, front and back.

Where do these numbers go? I did it back in 2002 as well and was just wondering who uses these numbers and for what purposes?

There's a web page - busines.census.gov - that shows lots of examples of how the info is used. Including an industry profile for the sound recording industry at this link -

Dang. According to that report, I must be in the wrong state! Look at how many other states do better in employee compensation. New Mexico? Hello?

I guess it'll be interesting to see what the trends are from 2002 to 2007 as far as number of facilities and revenue.

Also, does anyone else here get this form and return it? I just wonder how accurately it reflects the real numbers. Of course, it won't reflect any home studios or studios operating without a business license.

I think if you received one from the Gov, you're required to fill it out by law.

What's interesting is that the website shows that the average employees per establishment has dropped from 1997 to 2002.

I'm actually surprised it didn't drop more than 4.4 to 4.1. I imagine by this point, another six years later, the average employees per establishment has dropped even more noticeably.
