Vocal mics

Hi
I'd like to get a new vocal mic. Currently I have a rode K2, and although it is very very cheap I am very happy about it for some singers, but it realy realy badly sucks for others, its distortion in the tube sound realy realy bad for female vocalist. Anyway I'd like someting with a fat and big sound, not to soft.
My price range is 1500-2500$
I'd like if I can listen to some samples from female and male vocal.

The only mics I've been looking at now is Wunder, and Telefunken. Telefunken have made a cheap series, is it worth a try?

Wow for what you are doin I have a great recommendation and I am only recommending this mic based off of the testimonials that ppl that have used this had said...I know ppl who have said they have used for this recording and they said it was a dry vocal (no eq compression, jut mic into pre into interface) and it sounded really GREAT! Very warm and distinct sounding vocal...The mic is the Blue Kiwi...Blue makes good mics and this mic has 9 patterns and is a solid state mic...Check it out!

The TelefunkenUSA AK-47 and M-16 mics are the best I've heard in the <$2k range... they are frequently put up next to mics that cost 2 to 5 times as much at our joint and stand up well [and actually win about 1/3rd of the time!].

Best of luck with your search.

Of the couple mics that we own in that price range, that have those characteristics, you should look seriously at a Lawson L47.

Funny some of the threads on this topic:
Best Vocal Microphone

Fletcher, could you tell me a little bit about the differences in those two mics?

Also, what does R-F-T stand for?

Thanks, Eric

all of those mics are great, and i know the feeling of wanting to add another mic to your arsenal, but i would at least try changing the tube out in the k2 first. a buddy of mine changed the stock tube in the mic (which i think is a cheap russian or chinese tube) for a vintage telefunken, and the difference was pretty awesome. it really fixed the thin/harsh highs of the mic. if i were in your position, i would try this out as well as get one of the mics above that best fits your need, i'm sure you could afford both, as the tube was about 80 bucks. goodluck!
