Show Me Your Rack 2008

OK, I have added a lot of new gear and thought this would be fun. It is a new rack as well. By the way those are serial number 1 and 2 of the new Retro 176's. Don't ask me how they sound because I just installed them today.

Let me see what you guys have cooking for 2008!!!

Niiiiiiice rack

What's that beauty between the Federal and the MC77s?

And please do tell us about those 176s as soon as you can.

Oh oh oh, and... are you using that Neve DPD (in addition to the obvious) as the front-end DSD converter to your Tascam?

Thanks for sharing

I use it both as my main mixing converter and the 1073's as tracking mic pre's.

It is an AMAZING box for the money. I could not live without it

OK, you've got to spill on the difference between the ADL 670 and the Fairchild you used to have. Better, same, not as good?

And I've got dibs on the TSL-3 when you inevitably decide to sell it. :-)

Given that there doesn't appear to be any spaces for ventilation, does your rack get very hot?

Hey Tom, nice rack! Is it a Custom Consoles rack? It looks like the bottom 18 spaces are slanted and the rest are vertical.

Yeah Tom, no blue stripes and seems you let the original 670 go for the ADL clone?

Mine is nowhere near as impressive as Tom's but here is an arty shot I took of my '08 'pre' rack which I shot for my new website: Dockyard Studios - We make records

Most of these are vintage modules I've racked up or boutique stuff I've come across.

From the top we have

2 x Neve 1272's converted to 1290's
2 x Canil Pro Audio Relinqua 312's (Brazilian boutique at its best, API 312 clones)
2 x Telefunken V672 + 2 x Neumann W491 Mastering Eq's
2 x Hamptone JFET's + 2 x Spectra Sonics 101's
2 x JLM Audio Animal Pres with 'Neveish' combo

Have a pair of Quad Eight CA-227 mics pres and a Gyraf Audio G9 2 channel Valve Pre in the wings... will get to them in once the new Lynx Aurora 16 is wired in.

Happy '08 racking!

Matt

I'm gonna skip the blue strips for now. I'm really digging the Purples!

Yes, it is something that Todd came up with and I LOVE it! It is also solid walnut on the front and walnut veneer on the sides. It looks awesome in real life.thumbsup

Give me a couple of years on the TSL-3, I use it on EVERY mix! It is ridiculous

In my opinion the ADL 670 is every bit as magical as the Fairchild, plus it has the amazing bonus of working every day

That's a beautiful setup, Tom. Classic.

Here's some of the rather more humble setup I've got around here.

How do you like your Summit EQ? I've been thinking about getting one of those.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by it. It's generally the last insert pair I use.
