Presonus Control Station

Is anybody using this? I have the Benchmark DAC-1 and a coleman audio MP3H but I'm thinking of moving to the presonus if the quality of the D/A is comparable. I really need Talkback for PT since dumping my D8B and I thought the Presonus has everything one needs for a DW setup.

Central Station

Central Station is a very useful box ... but the D/A is fair at best and not in the same league as the Benchmark or the Lavrys etc... . If you A/B them with the Lavry's you'd hear the difference in the clarity and the image right away. That being said, for the money, the central station can't be beat and if you had somthing like motu converters it might be a step up for you.

There's a favorable review of the Grace M904 in the latest TapeOp. You might want to check out the review, maybe it's on their site.

Setup an SM57 somewhere in your vicinity, don't aim it directly at speakers, bring it up on a PT aux input.

Create new audio track. Write a small section (couple of sec) of white noise onto that track using Audio Suite Signalgenerator and loop that section, something like 999 times. Assign output of this track to bus 64.

Insert a side-chainable gate on your SM57 Aux input track and use bus (buss? whatever...) 64 as your Key in. set medium attack and release.

Now, everytime you hit playback the mic will get muted, when you stop playback the mic will open - all automatically

remind everybody present in the control room that the artist(s) will be able to hear all the comments...

Thanks Sharpeleven. That's what I've been doing but there's more and more a request for a talkback button in the room. So what I'll end up doing is:
DAC-1 out to Presonus Central Station and from there to speackers and cue mixes.
