New SSL from PAD?????

All,
A friend of mine just ordered an SSL from PAD.

My question is/are:
1. Has anyone else dealt with PAD on one of these?
2. Is there anything he should look out for?
3. Does anyone have any post sale stories positive or negative that may help him avoid a bad deal.

OR for that matter any information about SSL OR PAD that may be of interest to the group or someone considering this kind of purchase.

They did state that theis board was orig commisioned by them. Maintained by them and is being gone over top to bottom prior to delivery. They are even building a new PB specifically for his set up. New wire all the way to every piece of outboard and tape machines.

FYI: I believe it is a 6k with G+ and E series throughout.

Best of all!!!! I am going to get to touch it!!!! Weeeee Heeee!!!!!

Anyone??

Thanks to all who reply.

D

Why don't you ask them for a client list and ask their clients... they'll be able to give you a way better answer than someone who has never worked with the firm...

I agree with Fletcher. Call their clients directly. I am in the middle of a control room/console refurb/upgrade with them now.

The only real details I have are the ones posted.
They did tell him that it is from a NBC TV studio and that
they maintained it.

Only Option? No I doubt. He was originally looking into the AWS900 but, this was less bones slightly and it is the real deal.
He had also mentioned looking at an old Dr.Dre board but, I think the lack of Maint OR overall mistreatment of that console discouraged him. I hate to speak for someone else so......

I will let you know how it goes.
He has envited me to the commissioning and the training that comes with the purchase.

Since I am not purchasign the console I would not feel right contacting other PAD customers. I hope he has but, I didn't ask.

I will keep all updated as to his experience.
So far it has been above anything I have seen
AND I think anything he expected.
They are really going over this thing first. New wood, Leather, all elec issue, if any, new patchbay and all studio wiring.....
Seems like one hell of a deal.
