Genelec 1049A

As Dr. Nick would put it "Hello everybody"

Does anybody on here have experience with the Genelec 1049A ? I've searched the entire internet......yes the entire internet.....yes I do have a job.

Anyways I cant seem to find any info in english, I managed to find a manual in Finnish which isnt half bad since I got the specs of the speaker from there.

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of these on ebay and I'm wondering what to expect soundwise and if you guys think if these will be a welcome addition to my line up ?(I'm using Tannoy reveal actives(the blue ones) that I'm content with).

Gentlemen shoot off you opinios :-)

Ah, I see :-) I'm a bit new, not down with the lingo yet.

Has no one on here any experience with these ? Any opinions on these would be welcome.
I'm also wondering about amping for these if anyone has any input on single vs. biamping these ?

Their passive nearfields, older model - here you can have a look at the manual - The Hobbies page (you have to scroll down and push the link right after it says "1049"). to bad I dont speak finnish :-(

Looks like a very Genelec kind of plot- I may be totally wrong but Id expect something like a 1030 but not as tight in the low end- maybe not as extended either... not to be used alone but might give you decent top end detail.

Take this for what it is though- pretty much guesswork from someone you doesnt like many Genelecs! Old style is much better than new IMHO though.

thats what I'm hoping I have a really small room so bass tends to be a problem and I'm looking for something a little cleaner than the tannoy's :-)
my general experience with genelecs has been plesant (mainly with large mains and some older nearfields) but the little I've heard from the 8000 makes me sway the same way you do I think I like the older ones better(for now anyway ).

I really hope these will fit the bill
