Analog to enhance electronically sourced music...

OK, so I've been producing most of my stuff ITB (Logic with Analog summing care of D2B) and while it sounds good, I am missing the depth and air of good 'Iron' in the signal path. With the exception of vocals, and some drum/perc overdubs, all the music is softsynth based.

Here's my question:

Since the majority of my sound is being generated in the digital domain, which would be a better scenario to add some 'cream' to the mixes?

Run my mix stems (16 or 24 channels) into Fatsos and/or nice Neve pres before hitting the analog summer and then out to 1/2" or 1"?

Or would dumping the stems to 2-inch to get the "tape sound" and then run the mix from 2-inch through complete analog path to tape mixdown?

Again, I'm not really looking for practicality here. I'm interested in a nice analog/digital hybrid. I like composing in the digital/virtual domain, but would like to give the sonics some bigger than life attitude.

Fatso? or JH24? Or will going from digital to analog 2" make a difference? I read some of the other posts on this topic, and it seems that if you're recording live source then definitely analog first then dump to digital...

As far as converters, I'll be using the Apogee X series to get in and out of the computer.

Yeah....try mixing one of your songs on a nice analog board like a 4K utilizing good outboard gear to mix it.....it'll be the world of difference....
