Thread Starter | RND 5088 vs. API 1608
Hi Pro's, we now work on a really old studer and i like the functionality and the workflow as well as the sound, but it's almost dead - and I got enough of all the maintanace sh.t so we are in desperate need for a new console. Aplication is mainly line mixing/summing multi ch. DAW + Synth + FX, about 24-32 ch. we're looking for a new, modular analog mixingdesk to get "the sound". I don't like the idea of patching a desk by using outboard and a summing device. We're thinking of either the new API 1608 + Expander or the RND 8055 + Expander. Since we do not need more than one or two mic pre's, the RND seems perfect. but i know old API sound and just LOVE IT! I would apreciate all your thoughts on the sound of the desks and eq's, advantages and flows. Thanks a lot! Last edited by extrawelt; 18th November 2007 at 11:36 PM.. Another option I would look at is the Speck LILO, there is a 24 channel version (48 inputs) If you like the API sound just add a rack or two with API 500 series to insert |

Do you also Mix Down tracks for other producers on the studer? I have also a Mackie 8 bus but I intend to go buy something better in a year or two.. Room acoustics and outboard first.. ![]() Greets Christian | |

There is now a 5088 in Germany and another on the way shortly. PM me if you would like me to help arrange a demo. Best, Josh |
